What does "Libelle" mean?

"Libelle" in Dutch means dragonfly. The dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability and self realization. Here at Libelle Colon Hydrotherapy we encourage our clientle to live a healthy and adaptable life.

What is the difference between an open and closed system?

We have two Open-systems (LIBBE, www.colonic.net). In the open-system, the client is in control! Lying on your back there is an opening in the table at the buttocks and upper thighs; you are draped to maintain dignity and privacy. You will insert a pencil-size tube in the rectum which will deliver the irrigant. After holding as much water as long as possible, simply release the water and waste that goes in the opening and down the plumbing!

With the closed system, the therapist is in control. There is a speculum that is inserted in the rectum; a smaller tube is attached to that where the water is instilled by a trained therapist. When you feel “full,” the therapist will then begin the emptying phase where all the waste is eliminated through the speculum.

What system does Libelle Operate?

We have two open systems

What does the session involve?

First and foremost, clients are treated with dignity and respect. Most clothing can be left on and a cloth is draped around the lower body, or a gown may be worn to ensure modesty. We strive to maintain a calm, relaxing environment with meditation music and aromatherapy scented candles, oils and lotions. A session is a tranquil experience for most, as the pace is controlled by the client’s holding and releasing of water.

After the therapist instructs the client to ease the rectal nozzle in, water is gently instilled. The water is purified with an Ultra Violet Water Purification System and is monitored and safely regulated by the Certified Colon Hydrotherapist for water flow, pressure and temperature. Aromatherapy warmed pillows are used for relaxation as oils and lotions are utilized to stimulate pressure-points in the arms, hands, legs and feet. Though the LIBBE device is comfortable and may be operated in privacy for those who prefer solitude, the therapist may enhance the session with proper techniques to promote peristaltic action and facilitate a more therapeutic release. There is NO odor!.

Do I have to have someone in the room with me?

Though we endorse a colon hydrotherapist being with you to provide the best session, on the open-system you can have time alone once you understand the process of “holding and pushing” the water. At all times, your dignity is always maintained and your privacy respected. Also, the FDA Registered Colon Hydrotherapy device contains a fan that pulls any odor right down the drain…so there is no odor!

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as a colonic, colon irrigation or high enema, is a method of removing waste from the lower part of the large intestine without the use of drugs. It is a gentle way of instilling filtered water through a small (pencil-size), sterile, disposable rectal tube or speculum. As the water softens the waste matter, it is loosened resulting in elimination through natural peristalsis (describes the wave-like muscular action the colon uses). This process is repeated throughout the session. It is cleansing, yet clean and soothing.

Why should the colon be cleansed?

Besides the colon being the “sewer system” of the body as it is referred to, a healthy colon absorbs water and hosts good bacteria that produce vitamins, such as K and some B vitamins. A healthy digestive tract helps support a healthy immune system.

The colon is a reflex organ with electrical connections to all body parts and systems. When waste material builds up over a long period of time the colon starts to weaken, breakdown and become toxic. The body reacts by slowing down other functions and becoming sluggish.

Some of the effects seen are: coated tongue, fetid breath, sallow complexion, abnormal body odor, dark circles under the eyes, cold hands and feet, brittle nails and hair, sagging posture (pot belly), tension, fatigue, allergies, indigestion, chronic headaches, irritability, nervousness, nausea, depression, asthma, and backaches.

How many sessions are needed?

Each individual is different and may require or desire different amounts. Just as some people exercise on a daily or weekly basis to tighten and tone their outer body, some people may also have their own ongoing cleansing, toning and rebuilding regimen for their inner body. Many physicians suggest twelve sessions over a ten week period (two weekly for two weeks then one weekly for eight weeks). However, after many years of experience it is evident that some individuals may not need a full twelve colonics. So, another recommendation is a series of six, that is three in ten days, then one a week for three weeks. Colon Hydrotherapy should always be done in conjunction with a holistic diet including increased fiber and water as well as exercise.

What about before & after sessions?

It is recommended that clients refrain from eating two to three hours before each session and drink plenty of room-temperature water to facilitate better emptying of the lower bowel. The last two meals before a session should exclude white flour (pasta, pizza, etc.), white sugar, animal flesh, such as, beef, poultry, and pork (white fish and salmon are acceptable), dairy products, carbonated beverages and any food that may be gaseous to the individual.
The same protocol should be followed after the session for at least two meals. To replenish any nutrients, we provide our clients with a probiotic.

What about sanitation?

The LIBBE is registered with the FDA as a Class II medical device. LIBBE’s are manufactured in compliance with strict FDA guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. Features include temperature controlled water mixing and back flow prevention valves, pressure and temperature sensors, water purification, and disinfecting standards. Each client has a new single-use nozzle. Each device is thoroughly cleaned in accordance with standards from the FDA, I-ACT and Tiller Mind Body (LIBBE manufacturer). We also maintain very high standards not only for each device, but for each room, bathroom and the facility as a whole.

Are there any contraindications?

Please note: presence of one of the conditions below does not necessarily disqualify you from colonics, though a prescription from your physician may be required. Please discuss with the Colon Hydrotherapist.
Abdominal Hernia, Abdominal Surgery, Abnormal Distention, Acute Liver Failure, Anemia, Aneurysm all types, Carcinoma of Colo, Colitis, Colon Surgery, Crohns Disease, Dialysis, Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis, Hemorrhaging, Hemorrhoidectomy, Hypertension, Intestinal Perforations, Lupus, Pregnant (due date), Renal Insufficiency, Currently on medications that may weaken the intestinal wall.

How long is each session?

50 minutes is allotted for each session. Before your first session, a brief health history needs to be filled out and reviewed by the Colon Hydrotherapist, unless it has already been submitted online; so please allow extra time accordingly. If you require more time in the bathroom getting undressed or ready for your session, you should plan on arriving earlier as needed. Also, for people with special needs that may require additional assistance in getting on the colonic table, for example, individuals that are paralyzed, please let the staff know when scheduling your appointment as clients are scheduled on the hour.

“I’ve had two colonic treatments to date. I was very nervous at the start, but the owner was very kind and comforting. The clinic is very clean and relaxing. This has definitely helped with my stomach issues and I plan to continue with regular treatments. Thank you for putting my mind at ease and the small attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed”
